Wi-Fi QR Code Generator Demo
Why is a Wi-Fi QR Code different?
A Wi-Fi QR Code may seem similar to other QR Codes. However, there is one fundamental difference: it is designed to work without an internet connection. The whole purpose of a Wi-Fi QR Code is to help someone connect to a wireless network before they have internet access. It would be rather ironic if scanning the QR Code resulted in an “Internet not available” error.
Features that require online services—such as updating the QR Code after it has been created or collecting scan statistics—are not available for this type of QR Code. Instead, everything the device needs is stored directly inside the QR Code itself.
A Wi-Fi QR Code contains only three pieces of information:
- The network name
- The network password
- The authentication type (typically WPA/WPA2)
Demo:
Connecting to a Hotel Room Wi-Fi
Only three values are required when creating the Wi-Fi QR Code in CheapQRcode:
Netwok name: GuestHotel
Netwok password: HappyDays01
Authentication type: WPA (use this as default)
Important: Testing this QR Code may disconnect your device from its current Wi-Fi network.
